Cobham Garden

The first phase of this rear garden began in Spring 2021, and it is still a work in progress.

The clients had done little to the garden since they bought the house, and the grounds really only consisted of a large lawn with evergreen hedging and mature trees, much of which had become overgrown.  There was a large Yew tree in the middle of the lawn that provided an unwelcome focal point, and Leylandii that was much in need of paring down.

The rear patio had a lot of cracked paving and was looking very tired.  The clients wanted to extend the terrace to include another seating area for morning sun, and to create some interest and colour.

Maintenance pruning was carried out to reduce the height of some of the conifers and existing hedging, allowing more light and depth to the garden.  The near dead Yew was removed bringing instant improvement.

The existing paving was lifted and cleaned.  The patio area was enlarged and raised to improve flow from the kitchen, and planting beds were incorporated to provide interest and soften the hard landscaping.  The original paving slabs were kept and re-laid not only keeping costs down, but reducing carbon footprint.

An undulating path leading off the new seating area brings a practical route to the shed, whilst allowing a journey to be taken through the adjacent planting.  Multi stem trees have been added to provide a focal point, colour and interest through the seasons.
